This is Lucie, who we adopted from K-9 New Life three summers ago, as a skinny, fluffy little frightened pup who had been thrown away, then saved from euthanization. Over the past three years, she has put on about 40 pounds, grown considerably, and become a wonderful, loving, and affectionate girl who loveslovesloves to swim in our pool! She and our Katrina rescue, Skye, are like mother/daughter, with Skye, the little one, the Boss.
This Spring, we adopted Allie (Alexsis) – she and Lucie have bonded very closely, and Lucie finally has the outdoor playmate she has always wanted! There are so many squirrels to chase, balls to toss, and birds to bark at! Allie has discovered that the pool Lucie so loves is fabulous, and keeping her out is too hard, so we don’t even try anymore. She has gained a few more pounds, and is slowly becoming more affectionate and less skittish. She has also learned how to sleep in her own bed, how much fun Kongs and Wubbas are, and that the hole in the fence to Obie’s yard (next door Chessie) is full of wonder and awe.
Allie and Lucie love to take walks on their leashes, and we are planning on taking them hiking and swimming off 64th Street soon! Thank you so much for allowing us to have these wonderful girls – they enrich our lives considerably, and we cannot imagine our lives without them.
