Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound mix Sex: Male Age: 2.5 years Size: Medium/45lbs

eBert was a stray who ended up at a shelter for a year, which can be very tough on any dog. Now he's with K-9 New Life. He has somehow managed to maintain his wonderful personality.

As you can see from his photos, eBert is a beautiful dog. He looks like a Treeing Walker Coonhound. This breed is very active and requires daily exercise. A short daily walk will not satisfy eBert. Regular mental and physical stimulation is necessary to ensure eBert stays happy, healthy, and content.

This breed also has a strong tracking instinct, which is why they are popular as hunting dogs. They are so well known as hunting dogs that they can get overlooked at the shelter. This is unfortunate because they are very eager to please, loving, and intelligent. But due to this breed's prey drive, we do not recommend that eBert share a home with cats.

Like most hounds, eBert is even-tempered, very tolerant, and gets along well with other dogs. He did well with many different kennel mates during his year at the shelter, and he gets along great with the four dogs in his current foster home. He has a confident and sociable demeanor. He's often vocal during play.

Magnolia is a very sweet and gentle girl. She loves to be with her person and is also great with other dogs, cats, and children. Car rides, walks, giving little kisses, and treats are just a few of her favorite things. She is very submissive and needs to be treated gently until she becomes more confident with her surroundings. Magnolia is housebroken and crate-trained.

Elvis is a very sweet Walker Hound mix. He has a wonderful temperament, very mellow and laid back. Elvis is housebroken, gets along great with other dogs, and loves to go for long walks! Being the hound that he is, Elvis needs a very secure fenced-in backyard so that his nose doesn't get the best of him. He loves to cuddle at night and watch TV with the right person. :) We are not sure how Elvis feels about cats. He's neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. If you are looking for a great companion and family dog then you must meet Elvis.

Rufus is an 87 pound lap dog. He is sweet and playful and gets along great with dogs of all sizes, as well as children of all ages. Rufus has lots of energy, he loves to walk, but also loves to snuggle with you on the couch. He is house-trained as well as crate-trained. Rufus is a dog who needs his people. He needs to be in a house where his people are home more than they are gone. He would not do well being left alone for 8 or more hours a day. Come meet Rufus at our next adoption event.

Higgins is an extremely loyal, sensitive and affectionate black lab mix. This 3-year-old “puppy” is a total cuddle-bug, but also loves to run -- how else can he keep his 55-pound frame looking so svelte!! He is a bit weary of other dogs and cats, although he has lived peacefully with both for the past year. (We would encourage his owner to do a few “meet and greets” if there are other pets in the home.)

Higgins would be the perfect dog for an active person (or couple without young children) who can really shower all their love on him -- take him for long runs in the morning and spend the evenings cuddled on the couch watching TV and giving lots of love. (Trust us when we say, Higgins gives back tenfold all the love he is given. He is VERY loyal.) He is especially attached to women, and makes a great guard dog – not too “barky,” but just enough to scare away those unwanted solicitors!

Higgins is crate-trained, and likes to have “alone” time in the comfort of his crate when the day or his surroundings get a little too hectic. He is rather sensitive, and will need some reassuring cuddles every now and then to let him know how much he is appreciated and loved. If you’re looking for some unconditional love in your life, and aren't afraid to give some back, then Higgins is the dog for you!!

This happy looking boy is Scotty and he came to us when his human companion could no longer take care of him due to health reasons. Scotty is that perfect age when he no longer has the bad habits of puppyhood but still has lots of energy to play and show his enthusiasm when you come home from work. He is housebroken and crate-trained and does okay on a leash (he pulls a little but we are working on that). He is very friendly and loves people but he does tend to want to be dominant when it comes to other dogs. For this reason we feel he would be best suited in a home where there are no other dogs or small children. Once you meet Scotty you will quickly fall in love with him. He is smart, attentive, and has a wonderful personality. If you are looking for a great companion, then you should come check out Scotty.

My name is Teddy Bear! I am about 3 years old and very well behaved for my young years. I am gentle, playful, beautiful, and affectionate. I also know my house manners and ride great in the car! My foster mom says I'm the best communicator because I make different sounds depending on what I want to do. I get along well with my 3 foster dogs and love to go for walks.

My favorite thing is to just be by your side and belong. I will need a fenced-in yard to play and would be happy with or without another dog as long as I am part of a loving family. Children must be over 16 years of age. Although I love to play in the yard, I do not want to be left out unattended.

BeeBe is a sweet girl. She's affectionate, outgoing and good with other dogs, but NOT with cats. After being rescued from Animal Control, BeeBe settled into her foster home very quickly. At six years old, she's young enough to have a little play left in her, but calm indoors with all her house manners. She weighs about 60 pounds. She loves to go for walks; however, because of her inquisitive nature and ability to jump a chain link fence, she will need to go to a home with a privacy fence.
