I love to play with toys and rough up my pillows. Elvis is a very sweet Walker Hound mix. He has a wonderful temperament, very mellow and laid back. Elvis is housebroken, gets along great with other dogs, and loves to go for long walks! Being the hound that he is, Elvis needs a very secure fenced-in backyard so that his nose doesn't get the best of him. He loves to cuddle at night and watch TV with the right person. :) We are not sure how Elvis feels about cats. He's neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. If you are looking for a great companion and family dog then you must meet Elvis.

Does your hunger for life have a sweet tooth? If so, then get ready to meet Sugar Cookie, a secret family recipe (some have suggested Italian greyhound, whippet, or chihuahua). She was rescued from a shelter a few days before Christmas and would love to spend the rest of her life with a wonderful family. She is one smart cookie - house trained, crate trained, knows sit, and will give you a paw. She enjoys walks and is very alert. She gets along well with other dogs. Not too sure about cats as there aren't any in her foster home. Sugar Cookie loves to snuggle and would do best in a quiet, relaxed home. She loves to snuggle and share a snack during a movie. As Sugar Cookie recently underwent heartworm treatment, she needs to take it easy for a few weeks. However, appointments to meet her can be set up on an individual basis.

Rufus is an 87 pound lap dog. He is sweet and playful and gets along great with dogs of all sizes, as well as children of all ages. Rufus has lots of energy, he loves to walk, but also loves to snuggle with you on the couch. He is house-trained as well as crate-trained. Rufus is a dog who needs his people. He needs to be in a house where his people are home more than they are gone. He would not do well being left alone for 8 or more hours a day. Come meet Rufus at our next adoption event.

Mr. Martin, aka Remy, is no joke. This small fry did his 10 months in the county shelter (he maintains his innocence, of course) and is ready to move on with his life. He's adjusting well to life outside the pen and is anxious to escape the troubles of his past. Recidivist? Not Remy! This soulful-eyed pup is microchipped (conditions of his parole) and ready to settle down in a loving home full of face rubs and cuddle time.

Remy's a quick learner. He's learned to 'sit' and is housebroken. Though he's done with doggie jail, he's cool with crate time here and there. Remy tends to be shy at first meet, especially with kids, but he's quick to warm up to and trust anyone with a gentle hand. He gets along great with other dogs, with absolutely no signs of aggression. Not sure about cats, however, with his demeanor, it's hard to imagine Remy taking issue with any living creature.

Dodge

Dodge is an extremely loyal, sensitive and affectionate black lab mix. This 3-year-old “puppy” is a total cuddle-bug, but also loves to run -- how else can he keep his 55-pound frame looking so svelte!! He is a bit weary of other dogs and cats, although he has lived peacefully with both for the past year. (We would encourage his owner to do a few “meet and greets” if there are other pets in the home.)

He would be the perfect dog for an active person (or couple without young children) who can really shower all their love on him -- take him for long runs in the morning and spend the evenings cuddled on the couch watching TV and giving lots of love. (Trust us when we say, Dodge gives back tenfold all the love he is given. He is VERY loyal.) He is especially attached to women, and makes a great guard dog – not too “barky,” but just enough to scare away those unwanted solicitors!

Dodge is crate-trained, and likes to have “alone” time in the comfort of his crate when the day or his surroundings get a little too hectic. He is rather sensitive, and will need some reassuring cuddles every now and then to let him know how much he is appreciated and loved. If you’re looking for some unconditional love in your life, and aren't afraid to give some back, then Dodge is the dog for you!!

Scotty

This happy looking boy is Scotty and he came to us when his human companion could no longer take care of him due to health reasons. Scotty is that perfect age when he no longer has the bad habits of puppyhood but still has lots of energy to play and show his enthusiasm when you come home from work. He is housebroken and crate-trained and does okay on a leash (he pulls a little but we are working on that). He is very friendly and loves people but he does tend to want to be dominant when it comes to other dogs. For this reason we feel he would be best suited in a home where there are no other dogs or small children. Once you meet Scotty you will quickly fall in love with him. He is smart, attentive, and has a wonderful personality. If you are looking for a great companion, then you should come check out Scotty.

Mosey

What a kind, gentle soul Mosey is. Just look at those eyes. Mosey was a stray picked up by the Isle Of White County Animal Shelter. He was not in the best shape but won the hearts of their shelter staff. Due to the kindness of volunteers who raised money for him, Mosey is getting the medical care that he deserves and should be ready for adoption in early November.

Mosey is great on a leash (no pulling) and he loves to go for walks. He will chase a toy, but he's not sure what to do with it once he gets it; in time he will learn. Mosey gets along with other dogs; cats are unknown. If you are looking for a gentle, very affectionate, all-around great dog, Mosey is your guy! Watch for further updates!

This is Betty Boop, a mixture of many breeds; we can't really say what she is other than a great dog! Full of fun and energy, she's a great dog for a runner or active family. Don't get me wrong, she's as much of a lap dog as anyone could want and needs her daily naps, but she can do several miles a day on a leash and play long and hard with other dogs. And if you happen to live in an apartment or condo and have no back yard, all the better for Betty because she has shown us that there is no fence that can pen her! We're looking for a special home for Betty, one in which her human companion will love her and exercise her and keep her roaming spirit in check. My name is Teddy Bear! I am about 3 years old and very well behaved for my young years. I am gentle, playful, beautiful, and affectionate. I also know my house manners and ride great in the car! My foster mom says I'm the best communicator because I make different sounds depending on what I want to do. I get along well with my 3 foster dogs and love to go for walks.

My favorite thing is to just be by your side and belong. I will need a fenced-in yard to play and would be happy with or without another dog as long as I am part of a loving family. Children must be over 16 years of age. Although I love to play in the yard, I do not want to be left out unattended.

Mr. Muggles

Mr. Muggles is a happy little guy who was found wandering the streets in Norfolk and no one came to claim him. He's super friendly and very affectionate. He is also house-trained and knows some basic commands. He enjoys going for walks and loves to ride in the car. He is neutered and up-to-date on all vaccines.

Mr. Muggles has a very bad underbite which makes him appear a little threatening; he is anything but! (we think it gives his little face some character) You won't find a sweeter little dog! He gets along with other dogs but we don't know about cats.

Mr. Muggles suffers from seizures but we have been able to keep them in check with medication. We have absolutely NO problem getting him to take his medicine as he loves to eat and is not picky about what he eats.

He is a low energy kind of dog who prefers to snuggle with you on the couch and watch TV, but he's always excited to see his foster parents come through the door at the end of the day. This special pup would be a great fit for almost anyone.

BeeBe is a sweet girl. She's affectionate, outgoing and good with other dogs, but NOT with cats. After being rescued from Animal Control, BeeBe settled into her foster home very quickly. At six years old, she's young enough to have a little play left in her, but calm indoors with all her house manners. She weighs about 60 pounds. She loves to go for walks; however, because of her inquisitive nature and ability to jump a chain link fence, she will need to go to a home with a privacy fence.
