My name is Alley Bama and I came to K-9 New Life all the way from Birmingham, Alabama. My puppies and I were rescued from a high-kill shelter where I was scheduled to be euthanized, but I gave birth to my puppies the day before my time was up. On top of nursing my 8 puppies, I was also helping to nurse 5 other puppies whose poor mother was hit and killed by a car.
Upon arriving in Virginia Beach, I was extremely emaciated, weak, exhausted, and near death. Due to my poor health and medications, I could no longer nurse my pups. I am doing great now and making a full recovery (and I have gained some much needed weight).
I am a wonderfully smart girl! Well, that's what my foster parents tell me. I'm still learning not to do my business in the house, and I might look for something to chew on if no one is watching me. I get along great with everyone! I LOVE LOVE LOVE to play! I am submissive to other dogs as I don't want to upset the pack, and I don't mind cats (I share my foster home with 3 cats & 4 dogs). Tug is my all time favorite game, but I also like to play chase. I really enjoy doggy toys! However, when it's time to relax, I can be quite a snuggle bug. I am more eager to please than anything else.
Keep an eye open for my videos and updates on my recovery!
Update: Alley Bama is looking beautiful and getting stronger every day. She has recently been spayed. She has also started heartworm treatment. She has blossomed into a very special girl and loves a pampered life with her foster family!
